Spring Weeding

 Wednesday, April 29, 2026

Starting the process of weeding. I began with the garden by the grill.

I wanted to get this going before the weeds become too legion.

Didn't finish this garden today but will do some more tomorrow. I'm trying to be as consistent as possible and get at least a little bit done every day.

Temps got into the lower 50s today. Perfect lighter jacket weather.

Spring Raking

 Tuesday, April 28, 2026

Beginning the process of spring raking.

Got a beautiful day to do it.

About 55 degrees.

Perfect leather jacket weather.

Earlier today Dale and I went to Ace Hardware to pick up some yard waste bags. We'll be going through 'em pretty quick.

Spring 2023 - Flowering Things

Saturday, May 13, 2023

Late spring again this year. The azaleas (photos from the neighborhood)...

...crab trees (photo from the neighborhood)...

and tulips and daffodils (photos from Jax Cafe) are all blooming at the same time. Usually there's a little staggering which occurs but not so this year due to the complete un-gradual nature of the weather warming up. It's all happening at once.

A Glorious Day

Saturday, May 7, 2022

Ok, today was not just a nice day, it was a glorious day. It's been four months of grey skies and colder than average temperatures.

We have dinner plans at Gary and Warren's place tonight. Dale ran to the store to pick up some wine and appetizers so I could get started on my cigar.

Listened to some music...

When Dale returned from the store he joined me outside and we each had a glass of pre-get-together wine.

We talked about how we wish we could both be retired NOW.

Spring Break!

Thursday, April 1, 2021

Today was the last day of school before our 10 day spring break. Last year our trip to Arizona to visit Dale's family was cancelled due to the pandemic and I spent my break getting ready for the start of distance learning at school. It's such a relief this year that our trip to Arizona is on and I don't have one bit of work to do for school. Celebrated with a cigar. Only 43 degrees outside but quite pleasant in the sun with a proper jacket.

Listened to some jazz.

Cocktail hour inside. Dale went to the store and picked up some Beefeater gin for me. We ordered dinner from Buster's. Dale got the birdie melt and I got a mushroom and Swiss burger.

Buds

This weekend saw the buds beginning to noticeably pop. I can't believe it took into May to do so this year.

Welcome Warmer Weather

Hasn't Been This Warm In a Looooong Time

According to the newspaper it actually got up to 60 degrees. First time since October. Lost a LOT of snow today.

The Cardinal

Have heard the cardinal a few times this season but can never see him. The above example is something I found in a second hand store yesterday while out and about with my friend Noel.

Meteorological Spring 2014

Very cold today. Didn't get too much above zero, if at all. Let's just say March came in like a lion.

Hope

This looks promising. Green growing things are trying to push their way up through some of last fall's leaves and pine needles.  I think this might be the primrose plant.
