Snow, Shoveling, Cigars, Cocktails, Dinner, Movie

Saturday, February 8, 2025

Finally some snow. We've had relatively little this season and it's so much easier to deal with psychologically when you haven't already had 3 months of it.

The sun was out for a decent amount of time.

Which made 20 degrees not feel as cold.

Dale and I got most of the snow shoveled earlier but we got a trace bit more so I decided to get that up since I was outside.

The sun along with blue sky and snow looked really pretty.

Dale and I drove to the store to get makings for oven baked pasta.
Cocktails and snacks while dinner was in the oven.

Broccoli along with the pasta.

We were in the mood for Alfred Hitchcock so we watched Rear Window. What an awesome movie. The ending is still suspenseful even if you've seen it before and know what's gonna happen.

Coffee and Cigars

 Saturday, December 14, 2024

Coffee and a cigar in the back yard this morning.

Romeo y Julieta

A few days ago I brought out the white pumpkin I bought back at Halloween and had been sitting on the porch.

It's starting to turn orange.

The moon was full by 4 pm when I lit up my afternoon cigar. This moon is the full Cold Moon.

Old Fashioned when I got inside to warm up.

Cigar Time

 Sunday,  September 22, 2024

Perfect day for a cocktail and a cigar in the backyard.

It's been an above average September temperature-wise. Previous months this summer were pleasantly average. Today we finally got some weather that appears as if fall may be approaching.

Nice to get a leather jacket weather kind of day.

A Weekend In May: Friday

Friday, May 10, 2024

So far May has been splendid. Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60s/lower70s. It actually seems like late spring. It seems for a few years now spring going into May has remained chilly and rainy and then suddenly jumps to really hot summer weather. I've really missed this beautiful transition period we're experiencing now. Work's been rough for both Dale and me. We're beginning the weekend with cocktail hour in the back yard.

I lit up a little Macanudo and poured myself an Old Fashioned. The evening started out pleasantly warm but as soon as the sun dipped below the trees it felt a little coolish but putting on a jacket solved that problem.

I made it a two cigar night with my second being a Romeo y Julieta. Good to be hanging out in the back yard in nice weather again.

Memorial Day Weekend 2022 - Saturday

Saturday, May 28, 2022

Gorgeous summer day today; perfect start to Memorial Day Weekend.

Dale joined me for drinks.

Great day for a cigar and backyard jazz.

The Lilies of the Valley were beautifully pungent.

It's nice that it's finally summery outside.

Still warmish in the later evening for my evening walk. It’s warmed up overall just enough that the warmth doesn’t go away immediately when the sun does. A sure sign of summer.

Our neighbor, Steve, who used to live across the alley from us has moved to a new house up the block. Took this as I walked by his backyard.

Practicing for Summer

Saturday, May 15, 2021

The gorgeousness of the day has continued into the afternoon which makes it perfect for a cocktail hour cigar.

It's about 70 degrees out and partly cloudy so when the the sun's out and you're directly in it it's quite warm.

However, if it goes behind a cloud a light jacket isn't uncomfortable.

Dale and I are both quite aware that his time left here in town is rapidly melting away as a long camp season up on Madeline approaches. We're grabbing onto some of the nicest days to spend in the yard, listen to some music,  and grill so we get something of a sense of summer in the city before he's gone for a couple months.

I drank some special edition Hendrick's which went really well with my La Gloria Cubana cigar. Dale joined me and drank red wine. He only had to move his chair once to get out of the drift of my cigar smoke as the direction of the wind decided to change.

Dale grilled some burgers and asparagus for dinner. He's quite the grillmeister.

Spring Break!

Thursday, April 1, 2021

Today was the last day of school before our 10 day spring break. Last year our trip to Arizona to visit Dale's family was cancelled due to the pandemic and I spent my break getting ready for the start of distance learning at school. It's such a relief this year that our trip to Arizona is on and I don't have one bit of work to do for school. Celebrated with a cigar. Only 43 degrees outside but quite pleasant in the sun with a proper jacket.

Listened to some jazz.

Cocktail hour inside. Dale went to the store and picked up some Beefeater gin for me. We ordered dinner from Buster's. Dale got the birdie melt and I got a mushroom and Swiss burger.
