Spring Raking

 Tuesday, April 28, 2026

Beginning the process of spring raking.

Got a beautiful day to do it.

About 55 degrees.

Perfect leather jacket weather.

Earlier today Dale and I went to Ace Hardware to pick up some yard waste bags. We'll be going through 'em pretty quick.

Falling Leaves

 Tuesday, November 11, 2025

The leaves started falling around the middle of October.

They fell very slowly and steadily.

They seemed to start accumulateing a bit more by Halloween.

Dale raked the day after the above photo was taken.

We had a hard freeze early morning of the next day. It brought a lot more leaves down. Dale's gonna mulch what's still on the ground.

MEA Weekend 2024 - Raking and a Cigar

Saturday, October 19, 2024

Dale and I got some raking in today and we were pretty proud of ourselves because of it.

We filled up a few leaf bags.

Earlier we stopped at Bachman's for some mums.

Got 'em potted the old green pots which are starting to crumble. Oh well, I guess you could say  it's just a more rustic look.

Maybe we'll stop again tomorrow and get some more.

Rewarded myself with a cigar after the yard work.

Had a Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur #1, one of my favorites.

A Weekend In May: Saturday Part 1

Saturday, May 11, 2024

Dale was off to breakfast with a friend this morning. I sat outside with some coffee.

My goal today was to rake out the grill garden. Mission accomplished.

The temperature was comfortable.

Yard Work

Tuesday, May 16, 2023

Been trying to do a little yard clean up every day that it's not raining. Today I finished raking out the gardens. Some of the perennials are not coming back as fully as they usually do. I'm thinking a lot of it has to do with last year's drought.

Raking, Cigars, Backyard Jazz, and Missing Athena

Sunday, November 7, 2021

Got some raking and bagging done yesterday. Still great leather jacket weather. It got to 61 degrees today which is odd for November. Nice to sit out back with a couple cigars...

...and listen to some jazz.

Deb's moving and she said we could have her fall potted arrangement. That was nice. We're really gonna miss Deb and conversations with her over the back fence.

It's hard getting used to sitting out back without Athena around. She is missed. It got up to 61 degrees today. Pretty warm for November but still perfect for leather jacket weather.

Raking

Sunday, October 18, 2020

Dale and I raked and bagged leaves today. It was loud outside. The guy behind Dale on the right was using was using a particularly shrill sounding leaf blower. The guys behind Dale on the left were using a chainsaw.

Bagged Leaves

Monday, April 30, 2018

Here are the leaves Dale bagged yesterday. There are still more to be raked.

Front Yard Raking

Sunday, April 29, 2018

Not feeling so well today but managed to rake for about a half hour and get all the leaves over to the retaining wall on the south side of the yard. Windy from the south today so this helped shield them from blowing back to where they started. Dale was a gem and bagged them all up later.

Back Yard

Saturday, April 28, 2018

Raked the rest of the side of the yard with the grill garden. It's starting to look promising and once you jump into it the yard work doesn't seem so overwhelming.

Grill Garden

Thursday, April 26, 2018

Raked out the grill garden today. I thinking of gutting the whole thing this year and starting anew.
