Trimming and Pruning

 Monday, August 3, 2026

Did a little trimming and pruning today.

The gardens have gotten a bit overgrown with weeds. I haven't been out as much due to the high temperatures we've had lately.

Couple cigars today. A little Hoyo.

And a nice Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur.

Storm's a-Coming

 Saturday, March 14, 2026

We're supposed to be getting a snow-pocolypse. Lit up around 3:45 as the sky was spitting just a little bit of snow.

Early signs of accumulation.

It's really supposed to start coming down around 10 pm.

Took some more photos before heading back inside after my stogie.

Went back inside about an hour after I lit up so as you can see it wasn't snowing heavily yet.

We'll see how much we actually get overnight.

Another Absolutely Beautiful Day

 Tuesday, March 4, 2026

Not much to say other than it was a beautiful day. Low 50s and lots of sun.

The Yard Today

 Monday, March 2, 2026

Cigar today and then photographed the yard for the beginning of the month.

We're losing a lot of snow.

We'll probably loose more tomorrow. It's supposed to get to 51 degrees.

Lot's of the ice has melted off the streets which are seeming so much wider with the snow disappearing.

The sidewalks are mostly dry since most of the ice and snow has melted off.

The ground is soft and wet so much so that if I put a chair out and sat in it I'd sink into the soil.

Planning on smoking another cigar tomorrow so I might try a chair anyway.

Still need to get the wreath off the front door.

Is March Coming in Like a Lamb or a Lion?

 Sunday, March 1, 2026

Beautifully sunny although rather cold today. Is March coming in like a lamb or a lion? I'll go with lamb because of the marvelous sun.

Gettin' Stuff Put Away

 Tuesday, December 16, 2025

Didn't get the outdoor chairs in on time this season. Was waiting for a warmish day to melt the snow on them but that day didn't come until today. Most of the snow fell off when I moved the chairs but I still had to brush some off before moving them into the garage.

I believe it got to around 43 degrees today.

Got 'em all put away including the chairs that go with the table (not shown).

Also finally got the cover over the glass surfaced table.

It felt positively balmy today and it was wonderful being able to spend some extended time outside without having to bundle up.

Kale, Mums, Pumpkins, More!!

 Wednesday, October 8, 2025

Been working hard lately on cleaning up the gardens. This one has been cleared of all the dead fern leaves. I'm also cutting back the ground cover that's grown over the decorative border stones.

The kale and mums are looking particularly good grouped together.

Cleaned out this garden over by the garage. It was horribly overgrown and I wish I would have taken a before picture for the sake of comparison. Alas, I didn't think of it.

Bought this pumpkin at Lund's today. They're selling them for $4.99 but you have to be a member otherwise they're $9.00 each. And you can only buy one per day.

I bought one the other day so now I have two.

Cigar in the yard this morning before I did my yard work. Leather jacket weather is back and it's glorious.

Snow, Shoveling, Cigars, Cocktails, Dinner, Movie

Saturday, February 8, 2025

Finally some snow. We've had relatively little this season and it's so much easier to deal with psychologically when you haven't already had 3 months of it.

The sun was out for a decent amount of time.

Which made 20 degrees not feel as cold.

Dale and I got most of the snow shoveled earlier but we got a trace bit more so I decided to get that up since I was outside.

The sun along with blue sky and snow looked really pretty.

Dale and I drove to the store to get makings for oven baked pasta.
Cocktails and snacks while dinner was in the oven.

Broccoli along with the pasta.

We were in the mood for Alfred Hitchcock so we watched Rear Window. What an awesome movie. The ending is still suspenseful even if you've seen it before and know what's gonna happen.
