Summer Cigars

 Friday, August 22, 2025

Cigar in the back yard yesterday.

Cigar in the backyard today.

The cicadas are out in full force. As a kid I thought the buzzing sound they made was electricity surging through the power lines.

I'm also seeing and hearing the grasshoppers. It's just that time of school again.

Dale mowed the lawn today. Josh from next door lets us borrow his electric mower.

I watched lots of planes come in today. Dale said there's a closed runway so they're bringing all the planes in from the north. One flew by just about every 4 minutes or so. I didn't see a single plane taking off.

Been doing lots of trimming back lately. Lot's is getting a little overgrown.

Have a few books I'm working on. Read a little while out in the yard.

Snow, Shoveling, Cigars, Cocktails, Dinner, Movie

Saturday, February 8, 2025

Finally some snow. We've had relatively little this season and it's so much easier to deal with psychologically when you haven't already had 3 months of it.

The sun was out for a decent amount of time.

Which made 20 degrees not feel as cold.

Dale and I got most of the snow shoveled earlier but we got a trace bit more so I decided to get that up since I was outside.

The sun along with blue sky and snow looked really pretty.

Dale and I drove to the store to get makings for oven baked pasta.
Cocktails and snacks while dinner was in the oven.

Broccoli along with the pasta.

We were in the mood for Alfred Hitchcock so we watched Rear Window. What an awesome movie. The ending is still suspenseful even if you've seen it before and know what's gonna happen.

Thanksgiving Weekend

 Friday, November 29, 2024

Smoked a few smaller cigars today.

In the mid-20s but breezy and really raw.

That's why I'm going with the smaller cigars so I'm not stuck outside for too long at any given time.

Temps in the 20s aren't too bad if it's calm and sunny out but it's definitely not that today.

Barky McBarkface next door was out of town today so at least it's been quiet.

Looks like temps are gonna be this way for the foreseeable future.

Can't believe November's just about over.

MEA Weekend 2024 - Thursday

 Thursday, October 17, 2024

Cigar this afternoon while Dale went on a walk.

When he returned he sat down with me and we enjoyed the beautiful autumn afternoon. Dale commented on the sun being so much lower with the golden light it produces and how pretty it looks filtered through the colored leaves.

Today is the full Harvest moon.

Visited with Marcia as she was heading out for a walk.
She was wearing her Halloween get-up and looked quite cute.

A Weekend In May: Saturday Part 2

Saturday, May 11, 2024

Came out again after raking to sit in the sun.

Ada was out in her backyard and gave me a tip. I texted Dale the above.

Here's another photo from the occasion.

A Weekend In May: Friday

Friday, May 10, 2024

So far May has been splendid. Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60s/lower70s. It actually seems like late spring. It seems for a few years now spring going into May has remained chilly and rainy and then suddenly jumps to really hot summer weather. I've really missed this beautiful transition period we're experiencing now. Work's been rough for both Dale and me. We're beginning the weekend with cocktail hour in the back yard.

I lit up a little Macanudo and poured myself an Old Fashioned. The evening started out pleasantly warm but as soon as the sun dipped below the trees it felt a little coolish but putting on a jacket solved that problem.

I made it a two cigar night with my second being a Romeo y Julieta. Good to be hanging out in the back yard in nice weather again.

Messy Backyard

Sunday, September 24, 2023

First day of fall yesterday. Today sat in the yard with a cigar.

As mentioned in the previous post I've had a broken fibula just above my ankle. I'm still in my boot but it'll come off this Thursday. I'm going to have to put some time getting all of this cleaned up. It's really gotten overgrown since my surgery.

The pine tree is shedding needles galore. They are such a pain in the neck to clean up.
