Storm's a-Coming

 Saturday, March 14, 2026

We're supposed to be getting a snow-pocolypse. Lit up around 3:45 as the sky was spitting just a little bit of snow.

Early signs of accumulation.

It's really supposed to start coming down around 10 pm.

Took some more photos before heading back inside after my stogie.

Went back inside about an hour after I lit up so as you can see it wasn't snowing heavily yet.

We'll see how much we actually get overnight.

President's Day Cigar

 Monday, February 16, 2026

Smoked a couple cigars today.

A big one...

And a little one.

It got up to 54 degrees today.

So I sat out in the yard for a little bit.

Until the sun went behind Andrea's house. It was cool in the shade so I moved into the garage.

Valentine's Day Cigar

 Saturday, February 14, 2026

Great day for a cigar.

Beautiful outside. However, it's unseasonably warm.

Fifty-two degrees at the time I lit up.

It's staying light just that much longer now.

The ice in the alley dates back to around Thanksfiving.

There's still a lot of it. I don't think the blade on the snow plow was up high enough when they plowerd back in November.

Snow, Shoveling, Cigars, Cocktails, Dinner, Movie

Saturday, February 8, 2025

Finally some snow. We've had relatively little this season and it's so much easier to deal with psychologically when you haven't already had 3 months of it.

The sun was out for a decent amount of time.

Which made 20 degrees not feel as cold.

Dale and I got most of the snow shoveled earlier but we got a trace bit more so I decided to get that up since I was outside.

The sun along with blue sky and snow looked really pretty.

Dale and I drove to the store to get makings for oven baked pasta.
Cocktails and snacks while dinner was in the oven.

Broccoli along with the pasta.

We were in the mood for Alfred Hitchcock so we watched Rear Window. What an awesome movie. The ending is still suspenseful even if you've seen it before and know what's gonna happen.

It's About Time

Thursday, April 29, 2021

Finally a day that feels appropriate for this time of year. April's been cooler and cloudier that normal. In fact, we had better days in March than in April.

Photo taken near the mouth of our alley. I love the lime green buds on the trees.

Jean's bridal wreath spirea is filling out nicely.

Our front yard silver maple is starting to fill out too.

My Bitstrip Self

Was snowed in today. No school but the alley entrance was too treacherous to brave. I saw a couple of cars stuck there. Oh well, I appreciated the time to be at home.

President's Day 2014

Lots of snow overnight. I was off today so I had the pleasure of shoveling all of it. My guess is that we got about 5 inches. The photo above was taken as Athena and I returned from a walk.

Jim's Bridal Wreath Spirea

I did some research today to see if I could find out what kind of shrub it is that Jim hacked down yesterday. I googled "flowering", "bush", and "white" and came up with a match. It turns out the bush is known as bridal wreath spirea. Well, I talked to Jim again today and it looks like he's going to let the bridal wreath come back again and that he plans to keep them trimmed and somewhat shorter. What a relief! The top shot is of what he trimmed yesterday which is now awaiting yard waste pickup in the alley.

White Lilacs

Our neighbors across the alley, Steve and Mary, have some beautiful lilacs just off their driveway.
