Odd Winter

Odd year weather-wise. January was more like March and March was more like January.

Once winter kicked in it was overcast more than usual and didn't want to release its grip. It lasted forever but eventually relented to a late, long, dark gloomy spring. I usually do okay with winter but this year really took its toll.

Once in a great while there was a bright, beautiful,  sunny day. Above photo dated March 10, 2019. Odd winter but I have a feeling this may be the new normal.

The following was posted on 3-10-19 on one of my other blogs:

"We ended up with about 5 inches of wet, heavy snow overnight. Thanks to Dale for all the shoveling. I helped a little but only as much as was comfortable for my wrist. You’d think the months noted in the top to pictures should be reversed! Also, the flocked trees are even more beautiful than they look in the picture at the bottom."

January 23 - Snow Day

Yesterday's snow ended up being quite a storm. Turns out buses had a difficult time getting kids home from school yesterday afternoon. Citywide, some didn't drop off kids until 8 p.m.  Woke up this morning to hear on the radio that school was cancelled due to roads and streets still being a mess. Snow day!!

After walking home and shoveling yesterday I estimated there was at least 8 inches of snow that had fallen. Dale told me this morning that it was actually around 11 when all was said and done.
It was a glorious sunny day today. And the backyard looked great. Dale did a little more shoveling this morning and I did a little touch-up on the driveway. Dale had to work and I spent a lot of time doing laundry and lying on the couch.

It's the 7th anniversary of this blog by the way.

This Morning

Wow. 10 degrees "warmer" this morning.

Yesterday Morning

I've been really good about walking to school no matter the weather. This morning, however, I caved and asked Dale for a ride.

Did You Know ???

Did you know that:

"Seahorse, ladybugs, woolly bear caterpillars, and dragon flies do it - HIBERNATE. Life is but a Winter Dream."

-Vivian Swift

There are many days in winter where I wish I could hibernate. Especially Monday mornings.

January

"January is the Warrior Month because it takes a WARRIOR to soldier through these cold, dark, harsh January days. This must be why the Romans put January at the head of the calendar, the better to teach the most important lesson of the year, that:

What it takes
          to get through January
is what it takes
          to get through LIFE."

-Vivian Swift

January Chill

Hearty man. Bundled up to deal with the January chill.

Missed the anniversary of the blog yesterday. School was cancelled due to extreme cold. Warmed up quite a bit today (up to 34!).

Fast Changes

Upper 30s, gray and rainy yesterday. Teens for high today. Nine degrees as I write this.
