Windy

Sunday, March 21, 2021

A little windy but 61 degrees outside. Great day for sitting in the yard with a cigar.

Listened to some jazz.

These two joined me for a bit. Always nice to have company.

St. Joseph's Day 2021 - St. Joseph's Day Cigar

Friday, March 19, 2021

Quiet St. Joseph's Day. Wore some red. Had one of the little Cohiba cigars Warren brought back for me from Havana. Dale and I had pizza for dinner and Dove bars for dessert. Watched Big Bang Theory.

St. Patrick's Day 2021 - Walking

Mostly gloomy day although the sun came out just in time for my afternoon walk.

Second Dose - Tuesday: Back to Normal

Tuesday, March 9, 2021

Temperature normal this morning; went back to work. Wonderful sunny weather today and up to 61 degrees by this afternoon.

Second Dose - Monday: Day Off

Monday, March 8, 2021

Slight fever this morning: 99.5. We're using the thermometer pictured above and getting the reading from my forehead. Dale says that when taken this way the temperature is slightly higher than what is shown. Anyway, we're supposed to stay home from work if there is evidence of a fever. Feeling somewhat tired today however any other symptoms I've felt are gone. Felt good enough for a walk with a cigar this afternoon.

Second Dose - Sunday: The Day After

Sunday, March 7, 2021

Low grade symptoms by late yesterday evening.  Felt worse this morning and even worse as the morning progressed. Body aches, headache, and some mild nausea. Advil helps but only if I lie very still.

Didn't get outside even once today. The most I saw of the backyard was from the kitchen window. Athena and Dale kept me company. Dale took wonderful care of me.

Second Dose - Saturday: Vaccine Day

Saturday, March 6, 2021

Got the Moderna vaccine this morning at 11:00. Glad to be done with it. It’s a tangible sign that we’re moving away from this pandemic.

I hear lots of folks have a strong reaction to the second dose 12-15 hours after it's administered. I'm going to take advantage of feeling well while I can.

Listened to Art Blakey.

Smoked one of the little Cohibas Warren brought back for me from Havana and sat back and enjoyed the sunshine.

Second Dose - Friday: Cigar Time

Friday, March 5, 2021

Friday finally made it. It's been an exhausting week however not a bad one by any means. Decided to celebrate with a cigar in the yard.

I lit up around 5 p.m. when it was about 45 degrees outside.

By about 5:30 the temp had dropped just enough to warrant changing into a warmer hat and putting on a scarf. I also moved my chair into direct sunlight. This helped a lot.

Listened to some jazz.

As it approached 6 o'clock it got a little darker and colder still but it was nice to be out in the yard.

It's supposed to be 57 degrees on Sunday which would've been a better day for a stogie however I'm getting my second dose of the vaccine tomorrow and I hear the day after is a doozy as far as experiencing symptoms.

Overall, great cigar. My shot is at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow. If I'm feeling okay tomorrow afternoon I may smoke another one but it'll probably be one of the little Cohibas Warren brought back from Havana for me.

Mike texted me a couple of days ago asking if I wanted to get together for a cigar this weekend considering it's supposed to be so nice. Sadly, tonight, the one time that worked best for me this weekend, was the one time that didn't work for Mike. I cleared everything from my schedule after my shot tomorrow in case I have a reaction. Ah well. We'll make it work soon enough. It's been since October since I've seen him. Damn pandemic. Can't wait for it to be easier to see people again.
