I recently planted the two native plants that are shown growing against the house. The one on the left is called zizia aurea, and the one on the right is called heliopsis helianthoides. The latter has recently grown a flower which you can see in the following post.

Great Night for a Cigar
Perfect weather tonight for sitting in the backyard. It wasn't even buggy (although the cigar may have helped with that).

Gentle Rain
Woke up this morning to a gentle yet steady rain. It must have really stormed overnight because some of the plants are flattened and the fire pit is full of water. Are the "bubbles" in the photos garden fairies or just light from the flash reflected on the raindrops? Sitting on the porch now with Athena.

Summer Soltice
Gorgeous 84 degree day. Dale was home for the weekend but left today to head back up to the Island. I'll see him up there in about a week and a half.

Mowing the Lawn and Other Things
Spent a couple hours in the yard today. Got the lawn mowed, the front garden weeded, and the front planters planted with impatiens and sweet potato vines.
