I was in Bayfield, Wisconsin today at a little store called Roxanne's where I found this garden fairy. I probably should have bought her. She would have fit right in.

Gentle Rain
Woke up this morning to a gentle yet steady rain. It must have really stormed overnight because some of the plants are flattened and the fire pit is full of water. Are the "bubbles" in the photos garden fairies or just light from the flash reflected on the raindrops? Sitting on the porch now with Athena.

Zinnias
I love zinnias. It's a beautiful flower and it's just plain fun to say the word zinnia. All of the photos above are from one of my backyard planters. Illustration is by Mary Cicely Barker.

Marigolds
Bought some orange marigolds today at Bachman's and planted them in the front yard planter. The top left photo shows yellow marigolds from the backyard planter. Illustration is by Mary Cicely Barker.

Lily of the Valley
The Lily of the Valley are in bloom. The flowers would make great caps for garden fairies. The top left illustration is by Mary Cicely Barker.

Squire House
Yesterday Noel and I took a drive out to Afton to visit Squire House. There were a few different signs for sale about not pissing off the fairies. I'm not sure what that all means and I hope I haven't done anything to torque the ones in our yard.

Oh, What a Beautiful Morning
Snow yesterday. Sun rising now. Not sure what's being reflected near the center of the picture. Garden fairy maybe? Photo taken at 8:36 a.m.

Summer Rain
Okay, I'm not quite sure what is going on in these pictures. Today was a perfect summer rain. When I woke up this morning it was thundering in the distance. This went on for about an hour at least and the storm never sounded like it was getting any closer. Eventually it rained and it was that wonderful kind of rain where it just falls steadily for hours. I sat on the porch and listened to it. I got back in bed to read and listened to it. I even went upstairs and laid down on Sophie's old cushion and listened to it fall on the roof. It was glorious. It let up somewhat around two p.m. but has never gone below being anything less than a heavy spinkle which is what it's doing right now. Anyway, back to the photographs. I'm not sure what is going on with all the "bubbles". It was dark enough that the flash went off so maybe it's light reflecting off the raindrops. I'm also not sure why they are more bright in one picture and not the other. Who knows, maybe they're garden rain fairies...
