June is here and the peonies have been lovely. The above are a neighbor's from about a week ago. We had pink peonies at the house on Stevens although I think ours were of a lighter variety.

Mark's Peonies
Mark, our neighbor across the street, has some peonies growing on his blooming boulevard. I grew up with pink peonies but think the white ones are pretty too. The smell of them brings me right back to the backyard of the house on Stevens.

The Yard of the House on Stevens

I've been digging through some old photo albums lately and scanning some pictures. Here's a couple of shots I found from the yard at the house on Stevens. The photos are most likely from 1984. In the first photo you see the Blessed Mother near one of two trees on the south border of the backyard. Both trees were eventually torn down. During that period I was usually in charge of the impatiens in the flower box on the front side of the house. They'd usually grow pretty tall with the help of lots of water and a part of a banana peel I'd plant under each one for fertilizer.
