The Garden In Winter - Rabbit Tracks

Just reminded of the amount of snow that fell last winter season as the paper this morning pointed out we had 86.6 inches. We've got quite a ways to go if we're going to beat that record. This photo shows some bunny tracks in the snow after our most recent snow.

First shot of this view with actual snow on the ground since last season but still no snowmound.

Cloudy November

I just read in the Paul Douglas column that in November it is sunny only 39% of daylight hours as compared to 72% in July. It helps to have Thanksgiving to look forward to. Never-the-less, it looks like sun is forecasted for this week.

More Yard Work

I pulled up a lot of annuals this afternoon. I put together this arrangement of some of the few things left that do okay in the cold.

Yard Work - 300th Post

Did a little yard work today. We've had drought conditions for a while and since I haven't watered for a bit I figured I better do just that.

November Full Moon

The full moon this month fell yesterday, Thursday November 10. Too bad it wasn't today, 11-11-11, as that woulda been kinda cool. According to the Farmer's Almanac, the November full moon is the Full Beaver Moon. The Almanac says: "This was the time to set beaver traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs. Another interpretation suggests that the name Full Beaver Moon comes from the fact that the beavers are now actively preparing for winter. It is sometimes also referred to as the Frosty Moon."

Snow

First sightings of snow at the airport on Wednesday. Nothing accumulated. They say it's about 3 weeks later than usual.
