Rhubarb Garden

Quite a change from the last time I posted about the rhubarb garden. Also, windy day today.

Sam's Backyard Part 1

Visited Sam, Becky and the boys in Leaven-
worth over Memor-
ial Day weekend. They've been working hard on the house and on the yard. Here's a shot from the backyard by the garage. In front of the frogs is one of Dad's garden stones. I found it interesting how clay-like their lawn and garden soil is there.

Steve and Mary are our neigh-
bors from across the alley. Their backyard lilac trees are looking beautiful.

Bugleweed

I love bugleweed as a ground cover. The flower it's sending up is quite pretty. I love the color.

Deb's Tree - Spring 2011

Our neighbor Deb's backyard tree. Quite a difference from the April 25th posting.

curred on May 17. The May full moon is known as the Full Flower Moon due to the appearance of flowers in most regions during the month of May.

Beautiful Day

Beauti-

geous, sunny day today. Every-
one's happy!

More Sedum

Dale and I cleaned up quite a bit of the gardens today. Looks nice!

Waiting for a Sunny Day

Cold and nasty today. I'll bet the garden fairies were not pleased. I sure wasn't.

Russian Sage

I can hardly wait until all this fills out.

The Birds

Dale and I sat on the porch last night and listened to the birds. They sounded beautiful.

Neighbor's Daffodils

As I was walking Sophie this morning we came across these lovely daffodils. Chilly today.

Sedum

The sedums are coming along...
Heard on the news that the high today was 88 and from Dale that the dew point was 69. HOT!

We actually had a tornado warning tonight. The sirens went off and everything. All is fine though...

Finished clearing out the sticks by the garage today and uncovered the rhubarb plants. They are coming along nicely.

Vinca Vine Flowers

A few years ago I planted some form of Vinca vine that keeps coming back every year. At this point of the season it usually puts out this purplish flower. Pretty. Also, we're up to 14 and a 1/2 hours of daylight.

Pick Up Sticks

Did some yard work yesterday. I'm so much farther behind where I was at this time last year. It's been wet and so much more cold that the idea of working outside hasn't been appealing. Yesterday afternoon was quite lovely. The pile of sticks you see in the photograph is about half as high as when I started. It felt good to get a little bit done. You can see the rhubarb getting started...

Silver Maple

The leaves on the silver maple in our front yard are really trying. The warm weather today is helping to move them along.

Pretty Flowers

Snapped this photo of some neighbor's flowers on a walk with Sophie yesterday. I consider them a sign of hope that we will see spring.... someday.

Snow On May 1

Saw a few snowflakes falling here and there yesterday. No accumulation but still, snowflakes in May? Really? It's not that I haven't seen this before. It's rather rare but it does happen.

Daffodils

My friend Noel and I stopped by local garden store Bach-
man's yesterday. It's been a few weeks since I've been there and it is encouraging to see that they're putting out more flowers and yard/gardening supplies. I took this photo of daffodils there. We got to about 55 degrees and eventually got some sun by afternoon. Lots of rain in the morning and early afternoon.
