Monday January 31, 2011

Last day of January! As of 10 a.m. this morning more snow had fallen across the Minneapolis metro area. The prediction is that 6-7 will fall before all is said and done. It's still snowing as I write this at 7:02 p.m.

After a very gloomy week it's great to see the sun out!

Photo taken Sunday January 30, at about 3:00 p.m.

The New Snow Rake

Yesterday Dale bought a new snow rake. It's pretty fancy. Pushing the rake up the roof causes the snow to fall down the blue slide that is attached to it.

Gently Falling Snow

Snow is actually falling in this picture. You can almost make it out against the garage. January 2011 has been very gray when compared to December 2010. December was cold and snowy but when it wasn't snowing it was very sunny.

Photo taken at 9:07 a.m. on Sunday January 30th.

Solitary Bunny

Snowfall this season up to 5 p.m. yesterday still remains at 55.7 inches. A very light snow started to fall last night and continues this morning.

Winter Dark by Lilian Moore

Winter Dark

Winter dark comes early
mixing afternoon
and night.
Soon
there's a comma of a moon,

and each street light
along the
way
puts its period
to the end of day.

Now
a neon sign
punctuates the
dark with a bright blinking
breathless
exclamation mark!

Winter 2010/2011 a bad one for ice dams. Photo at right taken at 9:57 a.m.

Another shot of the air conditioning unit. Don't be fooled. It's covered mostly because of snow being raked from the roof and not direct snowfall.
